Volunteer Work

How It Started

At my elementary school, I was introduced to the power of community service through our school's work with the SECU Family House and Ronald McDonald House. My classmates and I helped prepare meals and made cards for patients and sick children. This was how my passion for community service began.

Habitat For Humanity

The main way I volunteer for my community is through Habitat For Humanity (HFH). Through this non-profit organization, I both fundraise and build houses to help families in need of homes through my club. I am a part of the Youth Council, which is a student-led cohort of Habitat leaders in our region that plan and organize events for the year. My work with Habitat is described in detail on my Habitat for Humanity page (click the link below to read more about it).

InterFaith Council

Throughout high school I have also been volunteering at a homeless shelter in my town run by the InterFaith Council (IFC). The shelter is called Chapel Hill IFC HomeStart, and it is an emergency shelter for families experiencing homelessness. I help prepare lots of meals for the families living in the shelter each month.

The shelter is always looking for more volunteers, so click on the link below if you are interested in volunteering or donating food and supplies.                  https://www.ifcweb.org/services/homestart
